Adriano, who retired from professional football in 2016, returned to the pitch one last time as his first club Flamengo arranged a farewell match for the forward. The 42-year-old was joined by ex-Brazil stars Romario, Ze Roberto and Dida as 'Flamengo Legends' took on 'Friends of Italy'. At half-time, Flamengo arranged for a special surprise for Adriano as they played an AI-generated last message from his late father. The veteran forward could not control his emotions as he broke down in tears.

Speaking to , Adriano said: "It's a shame he couldn't be here, but I know he's happy with everything I learned from him. For me, the most important thing is the affection my friends have for me. It's not so much because I'm a player, it's the affection and love that everyone has for me. It's in my heart and I'm very happy."
