The 25-year-old is back on the training pitch after nearly three months out injured. The defender was pictured doing individual training work ahead of his side's Champions League clash on Tuesday at home to Bayern Munich. The Argentine World Cup winner initially had surgery in April to repair his fractured metatarsal, which forced him to miss the rest of last season, before having a second operation in October on the same problem. He is likely to return some time in 2024.

When Martinez is back fit, United's defence is likely to be strengthened. Without him, they have conceded heavily in Europe but their backline has not been too leaky as they have conceded 21 goals in 16 games. It seems the Red Devils have more issues scoring goals, with 18 registered so far, but having Martinez back in the fold is likely to have a big boost on the team.

Martinez is nicknamed 'The Butcher' due to his aggressive style of play. He played 45 times for United after signing from Ajax for £57 million ($71.5m) last season.
WHAT NEXT FOR MARTINEZ?
The former Ajax ace will hope to return to United's first-team as soon as possible. In the mean time, the Red Devils take on Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Tuesday.
