Salah's future at Anfield looked uncertain in the early months of 2022 as the Reds struggled to thrash out a renewal agreement with the forward and his agent, Ramy Abbas. However, on July 1, the Egyptian finally penned a new three-year deal that tied him to Anfield until 2025.

has now revealed that Klopp 'discussed' the possibility of bringing in Antony with Liverpool's recruitment team to replace Salah in case he left the club. However, a deal never materialised and the Ajax winger eventually completed a blockbuster £85m ($110m) transfer to Liverpool's arch-rivals Manchester United.

Liverpool fans will certainly be glad that a formal swoop for Antony was never approved. While Salah has maintained his world-class standards and further established himself as an Anfield hero over the last two-and-a-half seasons, Antony has managed to record just 17 goal contributions in 87 appearances for the Red Devils, and is no longer a first-team regular.
